Yuji, Megumi, Yuta, Maki, and Panda arrived before the great Tengen in search of answers. They discovered Kenjaku's ultimate goal: to force the entire Japanese population to evolve by fusing them with Tengen.
This would transform humans into a new, powerful species that would surpass even current sorcerers. However, this "progress" comes at a terrible price – the consciousness of everyone will merge into one entity. If even one person loses control, it will lead to the destruction of the entire world.
Kenjaku lacks the cursed energy to implement this plan, so he initiates the preparatory stage: the Culling Game.
Tengen recruits Choso and Yuki as guards in exchange for information and gives the remaining sorcerers a black box – a special "back door" to the prison where Satoru Gojo is imprisoned.
However, the box can only be opened with the help of a thousand-year-old sorcerer named Angel.
What Is The Culling Game?
The Culling Game is not just a battle, but a brutal and complex game orchestrated by Kenjaku across Japan. The goal is to "train" people for the impending merger with Tengen.
The country is divided into ten isolated colonies surrounded by a barrier. Everyone in these colonies is forced to play – refusal means instant death.
Participants earn points by destroying curses or killing other players, and the main mechanic is point accumulation. The key rule that gives sorcerers a chance is that whoever accumulates one hundred points can add one of their own rules to the game.
Therefore, rather than trying to eliminate all players, which is practically impossible, the only way to stop the entire Culling Game process is to actively participate and use the new rule to legally overturn the game from within.
