There was almost no action (again), but the introduction of a new character was impressive.

After a week-long hiatus, the eighth episode of the third season of Jujutsu Kaisen aired, and it was entirely dedicated to a character who instantly captivated viewers.

Hiromi Higuruma, a lawyer with tired eyes and a hoarse voice, didn't appear in the story by accident. He's one of the key players in the Culling Game, a man with a complicated history and a terrifying technique.

Although the new episode showed almost no action, it detailed what brought Higuruma to the game, how his cursed technique works, and why he refuses to fulfill Yuji's request.

Who Is Hiromi Higuruma?

Hiromi Higuruma is a lawyer who awakened his magical abilities and joined the Culling Game. At first glance, he seems like a failure with a file of lost cases, fatigue with the system, and indifference from those around him.

However, behind this image lies a man who never pursued money or fame. He took on hopeless cases, those already condemned by society, and sought the truth.

However, the Japanese judicial system, backed by public opinion, repeatedly convicted his clients, leaving Higuruma at a dead end. He devoted himself entirely to his work and then realized it was pointless.

In the Culling Game, he saw an alternative: a world where the guilty are punished and nature itself acts as judge, free from bureaucracy and bias. Therefore, Higuruma doesn't want to spend a hundred points on a new rule as Yuji requests because he believes the game is more effective than the law.

What Is Hiromi Higuruma's Technique?

Higuruma's cursed technique allows him to utilize domain expansion. The surrounding area transforms into a courtroom where he serves as the prosecutor.

To pass judgment, he summons a shikigami called the Judgeman, who determines the guilt of the captured individual. Once a verdict is passed, the punishment becomes real and inevitable.

This technique makes Higuruma one of the most dangerous opponents in the game because he doesn't need to fight in the traditional sense. He simply drives the enemy into his territory and proves their guilt.

In Episode 8, Higuruma first realizes his power, but viewers never see a full-scale battle. The creators stretched the adaptation of just two manga chapters (159 and 163) into an entire episode, saving the action for later.

How Did 'Jujutsu Kaisen' Season 3 Episode 8 Turn Out?

After a week-long delay, viewers were expecting explosive action or at least some development of events. However, the creators opted for something else – almost the entire runtime is devoted to Higuruma's backstory and his pompous bathtub monologue.

The scene with a white bathtub, a screen displaying symbolic images and a tired man in a business suit soaking is definitely memorable.

However, for fans expecting battles, the episode was a disappointment. The third season increasingly departs from the action anime format, transforming into a more thoughtful, cinematic narrative with lengthy dialogue, static shots, and philosophical reflections.

Whether you like it or not, it's clear that the creators are deliberately changing the tone and pacing of the title.
