Oh God, what a finale it was, am I right? I mean, we've all known that this Daredevil wasn't afraid of getting gory — but that scene in the season finale shocked absolutely everyone.
Even before the series came out, the showrunner Dario Scardapane warned us. During his talk with Empire, he said:
“The level of violence is way up there for a Marvel/Disney show. I don’t think there’s anything else even in the ballpark. There’s a moment in this that is just absolutely batsh–, and way past anything Netflix ever did.”

Kingpin breaking that skull now lives in my head rent-free (and I want it evicted). On a more serious note, I was surprised they even showed the whole thing.
They could have just moved the camera away and used some movie magic, saving the visuals for our imaginations. But no, we got the full thing instead. And it was so fast that I had to sit there for a minute to take in what had just happened.
In a recent interview to Deadline, Vincent D’Onofrio (our Kingpin) revealed the process of making this happen:
“I immediately started discussing ways with our producers and special effects crew that we could block the scene so that it helped execute the way I was thinking about physically making it happen. We figured it out: We did do something that feels different than what people have seen before when it comes to stuff like that. It’s pretty brutal. It’s kind of crazy as an actor to have to talk about things like that, but we want this show to be different.”
