Kang Dynasty Won't Hurt Fans Like Infinity War Did (And That's a Bad Thing)
Many Marvel fans are skeptical about the future of the cinematic universe, especially after the emotional rollercoaster of the Infinity Saga.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to enter a whole new era, with Phase Five about to kick off, and big challenges awaiting both the original superheroes and new characters.
Marvel writer Jeff Loveness has already told GamesRadar that Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will "put the pedal to the metal again" after Phase Four spent some time establishing the new characters and giving everyone a break.
However, many fans were frustrated with Phase Four and the direction it took. According to one fan, "putting the pedal to the metal" might be too risky, since the "car" is not all that well.
"Maybe get the car back on the road first before even trying to put pedal to the gas again," Twitter user MhadleyBooks said, noting that characters like She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel and the Eternals are not exactly what MCU needed to reach new heights.
Other fans note that the problem is not even the characters themselves, but rather the short amount of time viewers have spent with them. Back in the days of the Infinity Saga, fans were devastated to see the characters die because they were invested in them, but Phase Four, according to many, has not spent enough time making people care.
"They need to interact more before the big event of Kang Dynasty. Infinity War worked as we spent a lot of time with each of those characters. They are introducing so many characters but we won't seeing them again for a long time. We need to care about them by Avengers 5," Twitter user waffle_bored noted.
Not everyone is ready to give up hope on the MCU, however, as there are plenty of movies to come before Kang Dynasty hits theaters on May 2, 2025. On February 17, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania hits the big screen on February 17, followed by the Guardians of the Galaxy threequel on May 5, The Marvels in July, and Blade in September 2024.
The fourth installment of Captain America premieres on May 3, 2024, followed by Thunderbolts in July and Deadpool 3 in November of the same year.
