Karla Sofía Gascón’s New Role Gives Fans Oscars Scandal Flashbacks

Many thought nothing could beat Emilia Pérez’s level of arrogance and scandalousness, but the main actress’ role in The Life Lift begs to differ. Here’s what got people talking.
It seems like the cancel culture didn’t work quite properly with Karla Sofía Gascón who has just been confirmed to be getting a new movie role.
The actress, who became the first ever transgender person to be nominated for an Oscar, went into shadows soon after her multiple offensive tweets were exposed publicly, and it’s fair to say many kept their fingers crossed that this was the last public thing to have Gascón’s name attached to it.
However, the tables turned in an unexpected and pretty shocking way as the actress is now being slammed for starring opposite another scandalous figure too.
Karla Sofía Gascón Gets Her First Role After Oscars Controversy
It didn’t take much time for Hollywood to forgive the actress for personally offending minorities and making it all the way worse in Jacques Audiard’s Emilia Pérez.
As Variety reported, Gascón revealed she had secured one of the leading roles in an upcoming psychological thriller The Life Lift, a debut feature for Italian filmmaker Stefania Rossella Grassi.
That’s not it though, as the actress will share the screen with Vincent Gallo, Hollywood’s even more controversial figure whose name is a key part of numerous scandals, despite some critically acclaimed works like The Brown Bunny and Buffalo ’66 under his belt.
The report also suggests Gallo will portray “a tormented character named Gabriel, who lives in a small New York apartment and becomes persecuted by Post-its left in the building’s elevator. These messages “order him to commit atrocious murders of three other tenants who, in turn, want to kill their next-of-kin”.
Gascón is set to take on the role of Gabriel’s psychiatrist who “embodies both God and the devil”.
Fans Already Label The Life Lift ‘The Most Cancelled Movie Of All Time’
The news quickly brought Karla Sofía Gascón’s haters back to life, causing yet another heated discussion with many agreeing that Gascón and Gallo’s duo might be the cinema’s new match made in heaven (or more likely hell).
“Makes perfect sense. Almost like they were made for each other”, Redditor pqvjyf commented in a thread.
“Third upcoming movie I’ve heard about this year where my first reaction was, ‘worst movie of all time incoming’”, senator_corleone3 joined in while others noted sarcastically that the future movie should be directed by Roman Polanski and co-written by Woody Allen.
“They're calling it the most cancelled movie of all time”, If-I-Had-A-Steak concluded.
