Keanu Reeves to Topple Brad Pitt's 'F1: The Movie' With Brand New Racing Project

Apple TV+’s new sports drama is already its biggest box office hit to-date, but Reeves’ similar-themed docuseries might be an even more exciting story to wait for.
The Brad Pitt-led sports drama F1: The Movie might be racing at a high speed through theatres across the world, but Formula 1’s new upcoming project helmed by Keanu Reeves will likely become a new record breaker.
Apple Original Films’ biggest theatrical start so far, F1: The Movie went as high as $150 million grossed during its opening weekend, making a promising statement about the racing drama genre’s growing popularity.
It didn’t take that long, however, for another similar instalment to be pushed into production, with Keanu Reeves currently developing a behind-the-scenes story about the Cadillac Formula 1 Team.
Keanu Reeves Will Host and Exec Produce a Docuseries About Cadillac Formula 1 Team Origins
One of the modern cinema’s biggest action stars and also a motorsport fan, Reeves will helm the upcoming show alongside his production company KR&SH co-owned by Simon Hammerson, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
As another producing company North One promised, the future docuseries will give
“an intimate look at the unique challenges of assembling a competitive team on an accelerated timeline and receive a first-hand account of the vision behind establishing a distinctly American presence in a sport long dominated by European powerhouse”.
Keanu Reeves also added that he couldn’t be prouder as he joins the team that will soon bring the Cadillac Formula 1 Team story to big screens.
“Our goal with the docuseries is to bring audiences into the heart of this journey and showcase what it takes to participate in one of the most exclusive sports arenas in the world”, the actor said in a statement.
‘F1: The Movie’ Is Apple TV+’s Pride and Joy 5 Days After World Premiere
- On Rotten Tomatoes, F1: The Movie holds scores of 83% and 97% from critics and audiences
- On IMDb, the movie is rated 7.9/10
Despite its risky budget of estimated $200-300 million, Brad Pitt’s new massive hit is doing better than ever in the box office across the world, having earned $153 million in less than a week since the premiere.
Also starring Tobias Menzies and Javier Bardem, F1: The Movie follows Pitt’s racing driver Sonny Hayes who was the entire team’s most promising member until an accident on the track almost ended his career.
Now not being able to do much except for supervising young racers, Sonny gets a one-in-a-million opportunity to join a struggling Formula 1 team and help it become the best in the world.
F1: The Movie is currently playing in theatres worldwide.
