The first look whispers of secrets, silence, and lurking terror.

Following the trail of new horror releases has always fascinated me, and Keeper instantly caught my attention. The trailer reveals a couple marking their anniversary in a remote cabin, only to face what’s teased as an 'unspeakable evil.' A chilling setup, isn’t it?

A Film Made in Haste

What makes Keeper remarkable is its speed. Conceived during the WGA strike, written with Nick Lepard, and shot in just three weeks in August 2024, it came together on a budget under $8 million. Low-budget horror often thrives on limitation — perhaps that’s exactly what gives it bite.

Perkins’ Dark Lineage

Osgood Perkins has built a name with films like The Blackcoat’s Daughter, Gretel & Hansel, and the viral hit Longlegs, which earned $127 million from a modest budget.

His recent The Monkey leaned into camp and gore, but Keeper promises something quieter and more unnerving. And, of course, there’s his legacy: being the son of Anthony Perkins — Norman Bates himself — adds an extra shiver of expectation, doesn’t it?

Keeper arrives in cinemas on 14 November 2025.
