People agree that Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) and Monica Dutton (Kelsey Asbille) have had their fair share of riffs.

The dynamic couple has not only managed to disrupt the Dutton establishment and draw the ire of the family's patriarch but also spend more than enough screen time getting at each other's throats.

There is no question that Kayce and Monica have a lot of drama to manage. For starters, they've been sucked into the Yellowstone Ranch power vacuum whether they like it or not. The couple is frequently conflicted between being loyal to the Dutton clan or respectively the Native American values and traditions of Monica. Then, there is the recent tragic loss of their second child.

The family drama has weighed heavily on the relationship leading to a temporary separation, as well as Kayce (possibly) forecasting the "end of us" in the season four finale. Despite these tense and tender moments, Kelsey Asbille actually claims that her favorite scene from Yellowstone is not the one fans might expect, or even appreciate.

Jamie's Betrayal Was Totally Justified, According to Yellowstone Fans

Asbille revealed that her personal favorite scene between the two characters occurs in a season four episode titled "All I See You". The episode is one of the most tense and dramatic between Monica and Kayce, leading to a physical altercation and Monica uttering the words that she hates him.

Despite the fierce exchange, Asbille insists that she had fun shooting the tense scene with Luke Grimes.

"There are some things they got to say to each other, and it's about time… sometimes you've gotta fight," she insisted to JoBlo. It's a sentiment that Grimes more than agrees with, opening up to TV Insider in 2021 and describing the scene as "a turning point for [the character]."

Nonetheless, most fans do not agree with the actors. In fact, audiences are quick to point out the pivotal scene and how it exposes Monica's numerous flaws.

"She's been complaining the whole show," a Redditor griped about the relationship. Meanwhile, another commented that they would have empathy for someone like Monica in real life yet as a fictional character, and on this specific show, "she's insufferable".

Indeed, several Redditors agree that Monica Dutton is the type of character that Taylor Sheridan has wasted evolving into something more than a side player on Yellowstone.

Is Yellowstone Setting Up Monica's Death?

Unfortunately, Monica is not trending in the right direction. She's been the source of more complaints in season five of Yellowstone, particularly being a bad mother. Sadly, her recent decision-making contributed to the loss of their second child. Moreover, Redditors complain that Monica mistreats Tate, particularly regarding his own struggles with trauma. And this particular scene, unfortunately, only adds fuel to the fire.
