In the middle of the forth (and the final) season ‘Killing Eve’ not only delves into a supervillain origin story but also explains why Villanelle's sinister employers are called ‘The 12’.

The fifth episode gives us absolutely new information about Carolyn's past with The Twelve and it changes the context of everything she's done before.

Warning! Below are the spoilers for 'Killing Eve ' Season 4, Episode 5.

Episode 5 shows that Carolyn’s been involved in intelligence since her youth and probably most of the viewers were ready for this information. But the biggest reveal of “Don’t Get Attached” is that she came up with the name for ‘The 12’. We all suspected that Carolyn and Konstantin have a history together but to find out that he was responsible for the death of her father was quite unexpected.

All these new facts give us a new insight – this work was always very personal for Carolyn. That is why she has to continue her work at any rate. All these flashbacks from Carolyn's past marked a real big shift in ‘Killing Eve’ and raised some questions. For example, why did Lars, who survived Konstantin and Carolyn's attempt to kill him in 1979, not kill them both long ago?

It seems quite a good idea to rewatch ‘Killing Eve’ from season 1 onward with new knowledge and see if everything tracks.
