Despite the grand finale announcements and farewell letters from the creators, the Sex and the City universe refuses to retire.

In a recent interview, Kristin Davis, who played Charlotte, expressed her belief in the franchise's future.

The actress admitted that she didn't watch the Season 3 finale of And Just Like That because she was in "denial," and is confident the characters will return.

Kristin Davis Believes 'And Just Like That' Season 3 Wasn't the Ultimate Finale

Kristin Davis Thinks 'Sex and the City' & 'And Just Like That' Story Is Not Over:

In the podcast Are You A Charlotte?, Kristin Davis echoed the sentiments of her colleague Mario Cantone, who believes the show needed one more season to conclude properly:

“This is not based on anything real. In my mind, we're going to do something else. I don't think it'll be a whole season, but I think we will do something else.

But obviously no one knows who owns us right now, you know. So there's that that's got to be worked.”

She also notes that she has not received any specific plans from showrunner Michael Patrick King.

However, her optimism contrasts sharply with the reputation of the final season, which critics and viewers alike deemed a creative disaster that tarnished the legacy of the cult show.

'And Just Like That' Season 3 Was a Disaster That Doesn't Deserve a Continuation

Kristin Davis Thinks 'Sex and the City' & 'And Just Like That' Story Is Not Over:

If Davis' optimism is rooted in nostalgia and affection for the characters, an objective assessment of the third season offers little hope for its redemption.

Both critics and viewers agreed that And Just Like That had lost touch with reality and had become a parody of itself. The scripts descended into absurdity, with entire episodes devoted to arguments over yogurt in the fridge or a bottle of Coke on the desk.

The dialogue became stilted and wooden, and the characters' costumes and lifestyles drifted into a complete fantasy, divorced from any recognizable reality – even that of the New York elite.

Once revolutionary for its sharp, precise, and bold exploration of friendship, love, and female growth, the show has degenerated into poorly written fan fiction.

And Just Like That exploits beloved characters by forcing them through humiliating and absurd plot twists that lack the depth and meaning of the original.

In this context, Kim Cattrall's decision to not return as Samantha seems not only principled but also prophetic and wise, as it preserves her character's dignity.
