According to Deadline that first reported the news, the future TV series will be produced by Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way, as well as by Warner Bros. Television and Greg Berlanti’s Berlanti Productions.
The project is yet to enter its production mode, but DiCaprio is said to offer a reimagining of Captain Planet’s original story with an additional layer of modern take that requires more sensibility from people when it comes to environmental problems.
The original series was initially released back in 1990, following five teenagers who delve into the nature of environmental disasters with the help of a superhero called Captain Planet.
While the show eventually ran for six seasons, it’s not yet clear how many installments are currently planned for Captain Planet’s upcoming reboot.
