After Thanos, it seemed almost impossible to come up with a more menacing villain, but now that the MCU's Phase Five pits the Avengers against Kang the Conqueror, Earth's mightiest heroes may have an even harder time defeating him.

With Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania properly introduces the MCU 's new big bad, Kang the Conqueror, by pitting Scott Lang against him, it seems clear that a storm is coming for the Avengers.

Kang is a highly dangerous villain who can time travel and make the most of his multiversal variations.

Though he has no superpowers of his own, he has a formidable intellect and cutting-edge technology from the future.

Basically, his ability to travel in time and his grand multiversal ambitions make him a very dangerous foe for the Avengers, especially now that the team is missing original members like Iron Man and Captain America.

However, there is hope for the main timeline, and that hope lies in... Loki, according to a new fan theory. Since the Avengers are hardly capable of operating in the multiverse as effectively as Kang, Loki might be. At least when he's not alone.

According to the theory's author, Redditor TheMediocreCritic, Loki will eventually have to gather all of his variants from other universes and create Lokis Council to help him fight Kang.

"He will need a group of people that can deceive, trick, sabotage, and generally be a pain in the a** to the Kangs that are coming through and causing problems. Loki goes to those he truly understands, Him. Loki recruits all the Lokis he can find from all over the multiverse.

A group that can never stand up against Kangs physically but through sheer trickery and tomfoolery," the Redditor suggested.

The theory goes on to say that this could make Loki a central player in the MCU, finally giving him the "glorious purpose" he has been seeking. Potentially, Loki finding his role as the guardian of the sacred timeline could also be his endgame in the MCU.

The second season of Loki is set to hit screens this summer, with an exact premiere date yet to be determined.
