Liam Neeson in Pink Underwear? 'The Naked Gun' Reboot Is Wilder Than You Think

It’s up to you to decide whether to laugh or scream.
Fans of classic slapstick are in for a treat — The Naked Gun is officially back. The original trilogy, led by the legendary Leslie Nielsen as the hilariously clueless Lt. Frank Drebin, became a cult favourite between 1988 and 1994. Now, the franchise is getting a fresh (and chaotic) new life.
In the upcoming 2025 reboot, Liam Neeson steps into the comedic spotlight as Frank Drebin Jr., the son of Nielsen’s iconic character. It’s a bold casting move, but early trailers suggest Neeson is fully leaning into the absurdity — yes, including jokes about O.J. Simpson and a scene featuring bright pink underwear.
The new film is set to hit theatres on August 1, 2025, with Paramount+ backing the project. This will mark the fourth film in the Naked Gun universe, combining old-school gags with a modern twist.
