Margaret, You’re Not Alone: 3 Horror Snubs Everyone Hates the Oscars For

The genre is finally being recognized, but still not that much.
Margaret Qualley’s audacious snub at yesterday’s Oscar nominations’ announcement fuelled another wave of rage against the Academy that has been long known as a hater of horror movies.
In critics’ defence though, some horror flicks, except for The Substance that even made it to Best Picture category, still got into the lists of contenders for big prizes, though eventually were never praised for acting performances.
That’s in fact fans’ reason for now disgracing the Academy more than ever — the movies are a real gem, and their actors definitely deserved better.
Lily-Rose Depp, Nosferatu
The actress succeeds in delivering a powerful performance portraying a young woman torn in between happy bright future with her husband and dark past, memories of which start haunting Helen when her toxic vampire ex suddenly comes back to her life. Labeled by many “a nepo baby”, Depp finally proved herself to be worthy of everyone’s attention – and a nod from the Academy (if not now, maybe next year).
Nicolas Cage, Longlegs
Cage’s performance wouldn’t be the same without the actor’s long and thorough work on embodying someone he wasn’t quite used to portraying on the screen, which should’ve become one more reason for the critics to consider Cage’s movie for the award.
Hugh Grant, Heretic
The movie was praised by both critics and viewers all saying that Grant’s portrayal has transformed his image proving him to be a way more versatile actor than many might have probably thought.
