'Marshals': Release Date, Plot & Everything You Need to Know About 'Yellowstone' Spinoff

The Yellowstone universe, created by Taylor Sheridan, continues to expand. Following the success of the prequels 1883 and 1923, it's time for a new spinoff that takes us into the future of the Dutton family.

Originally known by the working title Y: Marshals, Marshals will be the first spinoff, continuing the events of the final season of the original series.

Here is everything we know about the upcoming project so far.

'Marshals' Release Date & Streaming Platform

The premiere of Marshals is scheduled for March 1, 2026. It will first air on CBS, and then all episodes will be available for streaming on the Paramount+ platform.

Although rumors of its development had been circulating as early as the summer of 2024, the project was officially announced in May 2025.

What Will 'Marshals' Be About?

The story picks up after the original Yellowstone ends. John Dutton's middle son, Kayce, leaves the family ranch to start a new chapter in his life.

Combining his skills as a cowboy and a former Navy SEAL, Kayce joins an elite unit of US Marshals. His goal is to administer justice and fight crime across Montana's vast landscapes.

The show promises to retain the franchise's signature spirit – a combination of gritty action, family drama, and the rugged landscapes of the American West – but with a new focus on federal law enforcement.

Who Is in the Cast of 'Marshals'?

Luke Grimes will reprise his role as Kayce Dutton. He will be joined by both newcomers and familiar faces:

• Logan Marshall-Green as Pete Calvin;

• Gil Birmingham as Thomas Rainwater;

• Brecken Merrill as Tate Dutton;

• Ash Santos as Andrea Cruz;

• Arielle Kebbel as Belle Skinner;

• Brett Cullen as Harry Gifford.

What Other 'Yellowstone' Spinoffs Are There?

Marshals isn't the only expansion of the universe. The following spinoffs have already been released and announced:

• 1883 – the 2021 series follows the Duttons as they travel across the Great Plains and eventually become the owners of Yellowstone;

• 1923 – the series, starring Harrison Ford, follows another generation of Duttons living on a ranch in the 1920s. The family must overcome various hardships, including Prohibition, drought, and the early stages of the Great Depression;

• The Madison – the series, starring Kurt Russell and Michelle Pfeiffer, follows the Clyburn family as they move from New York City to settle near the Madison River in Montana. The series premieres on March 14, 2026.

The projects titled 6666, 1944, and The Dutton Ranch are also planned, but it is not yet known when they will be released.
