Marshals season 2 trailer, release date: an October premiere four months after the finale
Networks usually make you wait a year and a half between seasons, then act like they did you a favor. CBS, sitting on the biggest new show it has, apparently decided waiting is for cowards.
Marshals season 2 premieres Sunday, October 4 on CBS. The season 1 finale aired May 24. That's a four-month turnaround — in broadcast terms, roughly the speed of light.
The scheduling is classic CBS chess: premiere night slots the show right after 60 Minutes at 8:30 p.m. ET, before it settles into its regular 8/7c Sunday home, with episodes streaming on Paramount+ the next day. When your Yellowstone spinoff is broadcast's most-watched new show, you do not let it cool off.

What the trailer actually tells us
The good news first: Cal and Belle survived the finale ambush. Logan Marshall-Green and Arielle Kebbel are both all over season 2, so the gunfire-and-gambling-debt cliffhanger resolves in favor of the fandom's blood pressure. The rest of the trailer is less soothing:
- Tom Weaver is still squeezing Kayce to sell East Camp, and Tate is in Texas as leverage;
- Kayce gets to ask "Am I a good man?" — a question with a famously reassuring track record in the Dutton family;
- Cal, cheerfully: land is "a plenty motive for murder."
The cast warned us the finale would sting — as Ash Santos put it:
"The finale is beautifully written. There's a really intense cliffhanger that we end on."
And Marshall-Green has been sitting on more than one bombshell — remember, Cal also got a cancer diagnosis he's told no one about:
"There's another big secret that Cal has to digest, and eventually that'll come out. He's got a lot on his plate."
The Yellowstone family reunion continues
Luke Grimes returns as Kayce, obviously, alongside Gil Birmingham, Mo Brings Plenty, Brecken Merrill, Tatanka Means, Brett Cullen and Chris Mulkey. The fun new hire: Jefferson White — Jimmy from Yellowstone, the most bullied ranch hand in television history — joins as Jimmy Hurdstrom, reuniting half the bunkhouse in a federal law-enforcement procedural. Marque Richardson and Morgan Lindholm round out the newcomers.
October 4, then. Same night HBO airs its Lanterns finale, because apparently Sundays are now a cage match.
