Marvel’s Mutant Saga Is Coming – 'X-Men' Director Drops Hints

I wonder which mutants Schreier will focus on in this reboot.
Director Jake Schreier is officially steering the next X-Men reboot, and I have to say, I’m intrigued. Coming off Thunderbolts, he’s already hinted at how that experience is shaping his approach to Marvel’s mutant team. As Schreier told Empire:
"I can’t say anything about it, but we’ve started work on X-Men, and that’s obviously very, very exciting."
What caught my attention is how he talks about balancing action with character-driven moments. He explained:
"The biggest learning curve for me was the proportion of the action to the more emotional, character-driven scenes…By the time we got to the end of it, it felt like, 'Oh, now I feel like we get how to do this a little bit better.'"
To me, this is promising. One of the things I’ve always wanted from X-Men movies is a mix of epic superhero action and genuine emotional stakes, and it sounds like Schreier has learned a lot from handling Thunderbolts.
Phase 7 of the MCU is already hyped with the so-called Mutant Saga, and if his approach holds, we might finally get a reboot that feels fresh, grounded, and exciting all at once.
I can’t wait to see how these iconic characters are reimagined for this next chapter — especially knowing the director is focused on both the action and the heart of the story.
