With the announcement of David Tennant's return as the 10th Doctor Who in the upcoming anniversary special, fans can't help but wonder if the beloved 11th will also appear.

The BBC's biggest sci-fi series is now going through a major moment: Jodie Whittaker is getting ready to leave the TARDIS after a nearly five-year run, and Ncuti Gatwa has been cast as the fourteenth Doctor. However, fans can look forward to a special anniversary special scheduled for 2023 ahead of the appearance of the new Doctor. Recently returning showrunner Russell T. Davis announced that David Tennant and Catherine Tate will reprise their roles from previous seasons. Tennant's return is great, but will fans see Matt Smith fighting the Daleks next year?

In a recent Instagram post about the casting of 'Heartstopper ' actress Yasmine Finney in the special, the confirmed 'Doctor Who ' account posted an ominous-sounding message in the comments section – "Silence will fall."

Fans were quick to decipher the secret message – because it mentioned silence, it was pretty easy to connect it to Smith's run as the Doctor, since 'The Silence' was one of the main antagonists of that era of Doctor Who. It is very unlikely that the official BBC Instagram page decided to tease fans for no reason, so Smith's participation in the anniversary special is almost beyond doubt.

Fans are obviously excited about this scoop and are counting the days to see their favorite 11th Doctor enter the TARDIS one more time.
