We break down the ending, explain key moments, and decode the post-credits scene.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, told a more grounded Spidey story than No Way Home, yet it still dropped major hints about the future of the MCU.

How Has Peter Parker Changed & How Did He Gain His New Powers?

Four years after the events of No Way Home, Peter Parker continues to fight crime in New York, having lost the world's memory of his identity. Operating without Tony Stark's gadgets, he begins collaborating with the Punisher.

A telepathic villain emerges and begins targeting facilities belonging to the Department of Damage Control. Peter decides to help the director of the organization, but his mission is complicated by strange mutations: his eyes turn black, his senses heighten, and his body starts producing real webbing.

An AI assistant suggests that these transformations are linked to suppressed emotions. Peter creates an inhibitor chip similar to the device used by the Hulk to control his powers.

Who Is Jean Grey in 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' & How Are the X-Men Involved?

During the investigation, Peter discovers that a young woman named Jean Grey is attacking the Department's bases. Grey is an iconic mutant from the X-Men team who possesses telepathic and telekinetic powers.

It turns out that the Department had abducted her sister, Sara, who was also a mutant and died during experiments. Peter suppresses Jean's powers using a chip, but when she learns the truth about her sister, she breaks free and becomes more powerful.

During the final battle, Peter discards the inhibitor, which makes him faster and stronger. He then convinces Jean not to kill the head of the DODC. The Punisher takes aim at Jean, but Peter throws himself in the path of the bullet, saving her.

Did MJ and Ned Remember Peter?

MJ finds the letter that Peter wrote to her and he tells her about their past. She admits that she doesn't love him because she has no memory of their shared experiences.

MJ convinces Peter to tell Ned the truth. In the final scene, Peter and Ned greet each other with their signature handshake, which Ned easily replicates. This suggests that memories of Peter remain in Ned's subconscious, even if he cannot recall his friend's name.

In a solo scene, MJ appears pensive, hinting that her memories are beginning to stir as well.

What Will Happen to the Hulk?

Jean Grey takes control of Bruce Banner's mind and forces him to unleash the Savage Hulk. Peter reveals his real name to the Hulk, who then lets him go before leaping off a skyscraper.

The Hulk wreaks havoc and ends up in a psychiatric facility. Bruce will likely miss the events of Avengers: Doomsday, but he could play a pivotal role in Secret Wars.

What Was Shown in the Post-Credits Scene of 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day'?

In the post-credits scene, Ned's Spider-Man tracking app is revealed – the tracker shows that Spider-Man has suddenly left Queens and ended up in deep space.

This hints at a new Spider-Man trilogy or other Marvel projects. Perhaps Doctor Doom transported Peter to Battleworld, or maybe he was taken aboard a spaceship to save him from an alien invasion.

Another theory is that the tracker picked up a version of Spidey from an alternate dimension.
