Mike Flanagan’s adaptation of Stephen King’s novel is landing in cinemas worldwide next week, so it might take a while before The Life of Chuck arrives on streaming platforms — here are our predictions just to be ready.

It’s almost time for Mike Flanagan’s The Life of Chuck to hit theatres across the world after a premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last September, and you might want to catch it in cinemas rather than wait for the movie’s streaming release.

Based on Stephen King’s 2020 novella of the same name, The Life of Chuck stars Tom Hiddleston and now has high chances to become Flanagan’s highest-grossing movie to-date, later continuing a successful streak on some of the streamers’ platforms.

However, there might be a sign of the movie not coming on streaming anytime soon.

‘The Life of Chuck’ Possible Streaming Release Date, Explained

  • On Rotten Tomatoes, The Life of Chuck has a critical score of 88%

Some might expect the movie to follow a traditional pattern when a film is getting a digital release within 4-6 weeks after its premiere in theatres.

Since nothing has yet been confirmed about The Life of Chuck’s approximate online release date, it can also be the case, though there’s a disheartening tendency that Neon’s movies have been following so far.

Also produced by Neon, The Life of Chuck will likely become a subject of the deal that the company and the streaming service Hulu signed several years ago, with the latter agreeing to release the former’s movies on its platform when a specific amount of time passes.

However, Neon’s more recent projects like Infinity Pool or Presence didn’t make it to Hulu earlier than some five months after they were released in theatres.

If The Life of Chuck follows the suit, the movie’s streaming release won’t happen until sometime in November this year.

‘The Life of Chuck’ First Screenings Have Stephen King’s Fans Divided

The movie is yet to arrive in theatres for all potential viewers to see on June 13 and select screenings will start on June 6; however, some fans were able to catch Mike Flanagan’s new Stephen King adaptation even earlier.

“Saw it last night and I LOVED IT. So did most of the people in my theater. Probably too schmaltzy for some critics and I doubt it'll become a box office hit since it's a bit hard to describe, but it has that cult classic where people ask "wait why wasn't this a huge hit" written all over it”, ContinuumGuy commented in a thread.

Some fail to appreciate the movie even after putting some effort.

“I wanted to like it but it just fell flat. I saw it yesterday from AMC's mystery movie screening. I really liked the beginning "act three", but the rest of the film just didn't connect for me. I felt it was WAY too narration heavy and unneeded. I was hoping for a little more tie-in to how/why events from Act Three occurred. Was left with more questions than answers but not in a good, inquisitive way”, JDC4654 shared.

Some people even think we have a new “worst King adaptation” on our hands.

“Saw this last night. It’s got all the Flannigan hallmarks: his favorite collaborators, his overly long monologues, it’s a Stephen King adaptation. But man…this has gotta be the schmaltziest, overly written, worst Stephen King adaptation I’ve ever seen. The choice to take Stephen King's text and narrate it did not work at all. And don’t get me started on the amount of times I wanted to cringe at the attempt to provoke an emotional response…” the_anon_bro revealed.

The Life of Chuck will be released worldwide on June 13.
