Naughty Dog’s “The Last of Us” starred Laura Bailey in one of the leading roles, though the actress went on to have a completely different part in the HBO adaptation — here’s where you could have seen her in the series.

Even with new leads like Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, HBO’s take on “The Last of Us” hit video game didn’t shy away from bringing some of its original actors back, with some reprising their roles and others portraying some other characters.

Naturally, the game’s diehard fans easily detected Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker, who in the video game played Ellie and Joel respectively, in pretty much different roles of Ellie’s mother Anna and one of the cannibalistic cult’s leaders James.

On top of that, The Last of Us even featured Abby Anderson’s original actress Laura Bailey, but you might have missed her just as easily due to all the chaos of the scene she was in.

Laura Bailey Was a Frightened Nurse in ‘The Last of Us’ Season 1 Massacre Scene

Unlike her fellow game actors, Bailey was almost invisible in the HBO series, mostly because her face was covered with a mask.

In the show’s first season, the actress appears in a cameo role as one of the nurses that are making preparations for a procedure that would kill Ellie, but instead would probably give a cure from the Cordyceps virus infection.

The short scene witnesses the nurses’ bewilderment and then fear when Pedro Pascal’s Joel crashes into the surgery and starts brutally killing everyone in there, including Abby’s father.

Kaitlyn Dever Almost Had a Call With Laura Bailey Upon Being Cast as Abby

Despite showing up in a minor role and in season 1 only, Bailey almost got contacted by her character’s show counterpart Kaitlyn Dever, but the conversation never took place because of Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann’s different plans for Abby’s introduction in the series.

“I actually didn’t [talk to Laura]. In my first meeting with Neil [Druckmann] and Craig [Mazin], I asked how close they wanted to be to the Abby in the game, and Neil really didn’t want anyone to play the game. They wanted the show to be its own standalone thing. She did an amazing job as Abby in the game. I definitely admire her”, Dever revealed in an interview with TVLine recently.

In fact, Druckmann’s vision of the character was so distant from what the original game showed that he had a specific request for the actress to ignore “The Last of Us” games completely.

“He even asked me not to play the game, although it was a little too late for that, because I had already played through half of the second game, and I’d finished the first game probably twice”, the actress told Lifestyle Asia back then.
