Missed 'Pretty Little Liars'? There's a 2015 Remake & It's Better Than the Original

If you've never heard of the Pretty Little Liars remake, that's okay – it was made in Turkey ten years ago. Here's why it deserves the attention of every fan of the show.
For many teenage girls growing up in the 2010s, the series Pretty Little Liars was part of their cultural code.
Although the show evokes warm nostalgia, it's worth acknowledging that Pretty Little Liars didn't need seven seasons. The last ones spoiled the show for even the most devoted fans.
Few people know that Pretty Little Liars has a much closer-to-the-original remake, released in 2015 – and it was filmed in Turkey.
The Turkish 'Pretty Little Liars' Has 1 Season & Follows the Original More Closely
The Turkish Pretty Little Liars has one undeniable advantage over the original: it has only 13 episodes, each of which lasts two hours. The project is much more dynamic than the American version, which spanned seven seasons with twenty episodes each.
Over the course of seven years, the creator, I. Marlene King, stretched out the plot, promising that the ending would be shocking – it turned out to be shockingly weak.
What Is 'Pretty Little Liars' About?
Pretty Little Liars, which premiered in 2010, is based on the series of novels by Sara Shepard. The main characters are schoolgirls and best friends: Alison, Aria, Spencer, Hanna, and Emily.
One day, Alison disappears without a trace. After the incident, the girls' friendship fades, and a year later, they barely communicate. However, they begin to receive messages from someone who calls themselves "A" and knows their secrets – those that only Alison knew.
2015's Show Is Even More Inventive That the American Version
Readers of the books knew in advance what happened to Alison and who "A" was. To surprise the viewers, the American team changed the direction of the story but still could not make it truly unexpected.
The Turkish series brought the ending closer to the original source material and developed a more logical plot. What's more, it repeats many of the same plot lines, but in a more inventive way.
For example, the Turkish version of Aria meets her teacher Ezra when he comes to her aid in a difficult situation, not in a bar. Their meeting doesn't end with passionate kisses in the bathroom – instead, they have a heart-to-heart talk.
It is Truly a Worthy Remake
Most importantly, the project ended on time, and the characters remained true to their characters until the end. The unofficial leader, Spencer, showed her intelligence until the last episode. The cunning schemer Alison never stopped calculating her moves in advance.
The Turkish Pretty Little Liars is definitely a solid detective story and a worthy remake about friends stuck in their own lies.
