MobLand season 2 lands this week — Paramount+ already renewed it before a single episode aired
Clear your Friday: the Harrigans are back, and absolutely nobody in North London is going to have a nice time.
MobLand season 2 hits Paramount+ this Friday, September 18, at 12 a.m. PT / 3 a.m. ET (8 a.m. for the Brits), with ten episodes dropping weekly through the November 20 finale. Tom Hardy's Harry Da Souza returns to fix things that increasingly refuse to be fixed, while Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren continue their reign as TV's most terrifying married couple.
The flex heard round the industry
Here's the spicy bit: Paramount+ renewed the show for season 3 about two weeks before season 2 premiered. Not one frame of the new season had aired. That is not scheduling; that is a streamer slamming a briefcase of cash on the table and maintaining eye contact.
The confidence isn't delusional, to be fair. Season 1 posted the service's second-biggest original launch ever, behind only Landman, and Paramount brass have been doing victory laps since. Chris McCarthy, announcing the earlier renewal, put it in full executive-speak:
"With over 26 million viewers and climbing, MobLand has become a resounding triumph."
The season 3 announcement itself was blunter and, frankly, funnier:
"The Harrigans aren't going anywhere."
The drama behind the drama
The early renewal also quietly buries months of very juicy backstage chaos. Per Deadline, Hardy — who exec-produces on top of starring — clashed with showrunner Jez Butterworth during season 2 production badly enough that his return was genuinely in doubt, until a peace summit in London smoothed things over. Both are now locked in for season 3, along with Brosnan and Mirren. The fixer got fixed. Poetry.

- The Harrigans' empire is fracturing, rivals are circling, and the family can't even fake unity for a group photo.
- Harry walks his usual tightrope, except this season someone's greased it.
- The returning murderer's row includes Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Janet McTeer and Toby Jones, with Guy Ritchie's fingerprints all over the production.
