The last shot of MobLand's latest episode is a young man skipping stones on a pond, which tells you everything about how quiet a Harrigan property gets.

MobLand is Paramount+'s London crime drama from creator Ronan Bennett. Tom Hardy plays Harry Da Souza, the fixer who cleans up after the Harrigan crime family, with Pierce Brosnan as patriarch Conrad Harrigan, Helen Mirren as his wife, Maeve, and Paddy Considine as their son Kevin. Season 2 premiered on September 18, 2026, with ten episodes running weekly through the November 20 finale. Paramount+ renewed the show for season 3 on September 3, before season 2 even started.

What the final shot shows

Episode 8, "We Don't Talk Anymore," ends at the lake behind the Harrigan manor in the Cotswolds. Eddie (Anson Boon), the youngest Harrigan, is skipping stones. The camera dips below the surface and finds a corpse, held under by weights.

The episode doesn't say whose it is. It does say someone outside the family knows. Earlier in the hour, DCI Colin Tattersall (Toby Jones) tells the suspended Detective Kavanagh he has a confidential informant and possibly a "smoking gun" tied to the estate.

That leaves two kinds of answers: someone the Harrigans killed this season, or someone who's been down there a lot longer.

The new-kill candidate

The obvious name is JoJo. He was one of Frankie Cooper's men, and the only prisoner taken alive when Conrad's people raided Frankie's wrecking yard in episode 5. He was held at the Cotswolds estate. Harry killed him there, then told Conrad the prisoner had bled out from his wounds.

So there's a recent body, a lie about how it died, and an estate with a lake. Even so, the Harrigans' fixer doesn't seem to favor ponds.

In this same episode, Harry and Kevin take Paul to a shipping container and make him cut up Donnie's corpse with a chainsaw and vacuum-seal the pieces. A body weighted whole in the boss's own pond is the opposite of that method. It's the kind of grave you'd dig on land you expect to own forever.

One critic wasn't sure why the lake matters at all: "Don't the Harrigans have corpses all over the place?" wrote Ready Steady Cut.

The old secret

The same episode answers a question the family never asks out loud: where the name Harrigan came from.

Conrad tells Eddie the whole story. The man he grew up calling his father, Liam Patrick Francis, abused his mother. When she told Conrad his real father was someone else, a Finn Burke of Killarney, Conrad killed Liam with her sewing scissors and ran. A truck driver gave him a ride, and Conrad took his new surname off the company on the truck: Harrigan's Slaughterers.

So the Harrigan name starts with a killing and a getaway. And this season, the past has started showing up in person.

Conrad is seeing the dead, still carrying the wounds they died with, and not just at night: in daylight, in the woods around the estate. When Kevin tries to help, Conrad points a shotgun at his own son and makes him swear to say nothing.

Conrad's confession is about Ireland. His ghosts, though, are in the Cotswolds, walking the grounds around a pond that someone weighted a body into. Whoever's down there, Conrad seems to know he has company on his own land, and Tattersall's informant seems to know it too.

For the record: the Harrigans have lost a hidden body to a tip before. In season 1, Conrad killed Archie Hammond, Harry disposed of the body, and police found it anyway after an anonymous tip.
