Move Over, Pennywise! Another Clown Horror Could Outscare 'It' This Year

The film will be available online in early autumn.
Slasher fans have reason to celebrate again this year. While I Know What You Did Last Summer returns to cinemas and a Pennywise series is in the works, another fresh horror contender has arrived.
Clown in a Cornfield is shaping up to be a promising new franchise. The story follows Quinn, who moves with her father to the quiet town of Kettle Springs after a family tragedy.
Instead of peace, Quinn faces hostile local teens, including the privileged bully Cole Hill. Soon, the town’s mascot — a clown named Frendo — comes to life and begins hunting teenagers.
Quinn and her new friends must fight back to survive Frendo’s deadly rampage.
The film made a splash, grossing $10.7 million on a budget of less than $1 million. With several book sequels already published, fans can likely expect more Frendo horrors on screen soon.
