When Life Gives You Tangerines is over and it's time for a new obsession – Weak Hero Class 2 is taking over the Netflix top, and here's why every K-drama fan should be watching it.

Until recently, the most high-profile K-drama release on Netflix was When Life Gives You Tangerines – a poignant story that received an astounding 100% and 99% on Rotten Tomatoes.

However, it's time for a new Korean hit – Weak Hero Class 2 confidently conquers the platform's top. It is the second chapter of the show about bullying at school and those who stand up to it.

What Is Weak Hero Class 2 About?

After the finale of Season 1, Si-eun transfers to another school where the bullying is even more fierce.

At the new school he will make new friends: Seo Jun-tae – a guy who is forced to steal his classmates' phones; Go Hyeon-tak – the basketball player; and Park Hu-min – a cheerful fighter for justice.

A gang of students from their school is part of the largest criminal organization that has subjugated all the schools in the city, and the friends will be forced to confront them.

Weak Hero Class 1 Became a Hit Twice

Weak Hero Class 1 made a splash during its first release in 2022, taking 45.5% on the Korean streaming platform Wavve.

Three years later, in March 2025, the K-drama experienced a new surge in popularity when the project dropped on Netflix.

A great combination of realistic drama, important social issues, bright, deep and ambiguous characters, strong performances by young actors and well-choreographed fights made Weak Hero a truly outstanding Korean drama.

What Did Fans & Critics Think of Weak Hero Class 2?

While some viewers have noted that the second season is a little bit weaker than the first, Weak Hero Class 2 holds the bar set by the first season.

  • On Rotten Tomatoes, Weak Hero Class 2 has 86% from viewers, while Season 1 has a score of 95%.
  • On IMDb, Season 2 has a score of 8.6/10.

However, despite the many rave reviews and high scores, some fans were unhappy with the fact that the second season deviated quite a bit from the original source material. Redditor FlyingFlyofHell wrote:

“As a Webtoon reader I am quite disappointed in the show as they didn't follow the original story and basically skipped 80% of it. [...] 80% of the webtoon characters didn't even show up and great fights are all gone.”

Despite this flaw, Weak Hero Class 2 is still one of the high-profile K-drama releases of the season, so don't miss it.
