Netflix's Most Expensive Movie Ever Is Now Its Biggest Disaster With 23% on RT

The Avengers directors had a unique original visual that captivated sci-fi fans around the world, but they turned it into another generic, faceless Netflix blockbuster.
Critics are beyond unhappy with the new movie by Anthony and Joe Russo, The Electric State, created for Netflix. According to rumors, the movie cost $320 million, making it the most expensive project in the history of the platform.
However, neither huge investments nor the participation of star actors such as Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt could save it from failure. On Rotten Tomatoes, the blockbuster has only a 23% score.
What Is The Electric State About?
The movie is based on the graphic novel of the same name by Swedish artist Simon Stålenhag. The action takes place in an alternate reality of the 1990s, where advanced technologies have led to a man-made disaster.
The main character, a teenager named Michelle, goes in search of her brother. She is accompanied by her faithful robot Cosmo and war veteran Keats.
Simon Stålenhag Is One of the Most Outstanding Modern Sci-Fi Artists With a Distinctive Style
Simon Stålenhag's work has captured the imagination of science fiction fans, inspired many artists, and influenced the video game and film industries.
Technological but dying worlds; robot fragments and spaceship ruins; dinosaurs and physical anomalies – these are the subjects of Stålenhag's stories. They combine dynamic imagery and melancholy landscapes.
Stålenhag's work stimulates the imagination and encourages us to think about a future that will never happen. As Simon claims, science fiction has always been good at saying something about the present, and at the same time it represents an escape from it.
The Russo Brothers Failed to Capture the Spirit of the Original, Turning The Electric State Into Another Netflix Blockbuster
Fans had hoped that if not the author's philosophy, then at least the dark, hopeless, but mesmerizing visuals would migrate to the Netflix project.
However, judging by the reviews, the Russo brothers failed to transfer the spirit of Stålenhag's works to the screen.
Critics believe that the directors of Captain America and The Avengers have made a soulless blockbuster that has nothing to offer.
The filmmakers have also been criticized for moving away from the dark and gloomy art of the source material, filming the movie in a bright visual style and failing to make it truly captivating.
Critic Jonathan Sim summed up his impressions of the movie as follows:
“The Electric State proves that even if you have strong source material and excellent visuals, you can't always rise above the stereotypes of generic Netflix blockbusters.”
Some critics who have already seen the movie even believe that The Electric State will end up being the worst movie of the year.
The Electric State Release Date
The Electric State is set to premiere on Netflix on March 14th.
