Will they be able to outshine the MAGIC?

Summary:

  • Stepping on the path to take over cable TV, Netflix is about to release its first procedural series titled Pulse.
  • The show will follow Danny Simms as he becomes chief resident at Miami's Level 1 Trauma Center.
  • Still in pre-production, Pulse adds 5 more characters to its cast.

One of the main genres holding the half of cable TV viewers still turning their TV on every night are procedurals. Starting with huge franchises like Law & Order and NCIS to standalone shows like Grey’s Anatomy, they last for decades and let the viewers build the strongest possible connection to characters through a variety of tricky situations.

Known for its constant drama and undeniable longevity, ABC’s medical procedural Grey’s Anatomy remains unmatched and airs its 20th season right now. However, Netflix seems to be coming to its place, building up a strong cast for a medical drama of their own.

Netflix’s Pulse Cast Updates

So far, Netflix has already introduced three cast members to potential Pulse viewers. Willa Fitzgerald, Colin Woodell, and Justina Machado will portray young ER doctor Danny Simms, her lover and fellow chief resident Xander Phillips, and chair of surgery and emergency medicine Natalie Cruz.

However, the latest announcement adds 5 more names to the impressive ensemble cast.

Jack Bannon as Tom Cole

Coming from England not only for the education the hospital can offer, but also for the lifestyle Miami is known for, Tom Cole definitely stands out from the rest of the staff. However, it is his surgical talents that would really prove his worth, and not the foreign charms.

Jessie T. Usher as Sam Elijah

The Boys ' A-Train will have to put aside his superhero suit and scrub in as a third-year emergency medicine resident from the Florida panhandle. In contrast to his previous big character, Elijah is altruistic and kind as a doctor, but still has that competitive spark that can get him into trouble.

Chelsea Muirhead as Sophie Chan

As a surgical intern, Sophie Chan has to prove her worth and dedication to the profession, and she's ready to do it. Described as "smart and capable," Sophie will have to face some real hardships, but she's not the type to give up.

Daniela Nieves as Camila Perez

Being a medical student isn't easy, in fact it's the best challenge you can go through to determine if you're ready to be a real doctor or not. Camila, however, proves to be extremely dedicated to learning and optimistic even on the hardest days with the longest hours at the hospital.

Jessy Yates as Harper Simms

Coming from another iconic procedural, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Yates will portray Danny's little sister, who is an emergency medicine resident at the same hospital and must navigate the struggles of being a wheelchair user in a hectic ER environment.
