Step back, Keanu!

10 years ago, the world saw the first John Wick movie, where Keanu Reeves ’ titular character ends up fighting with criminals on his way to revenge. It has already inspired a number of filmmakers, but what if a similar thriller was led by a woman?

Netflix will soon present its own take on this topic, starring Jessica Alba, the recognized action lead (Dark Angel, Sin City). The actress’ most recent feature credit is the 2019 thriller Killers Anonymous, so we’ll be glad to see her roaring return to the genre.

The movie’s plot revolves around Alba’s Parker, a Special Forces commando who is called back to her hometown as her father has died all of a sudden. Therefore, she settles down there and decides to run the family bar, reconnecting with her former close ones.

However, Parker still can’t accept her father’s death, and so she starts looking for answers. In search of the truth she finds herself involved in a showdown of a violent gang running rampant in the town, and it’s the very moment to prove herself.

While this plot seems quite generic for thrillers, we haven’t seen many female-led flicks of that kind. Be sure that if you’re a fan of Uma Thurman’s Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003) or Jennifer Garner’s Peppermint (2018), you’ll be blown away by Alba’s new flick.

More than that, the filmmakers went even further this time, as the movie promises to be extremely action-packed and present a level of spectacularity similar to the one of both the John Wick franchise and Sylvester Stallone’s Rambo movie series.

Alba is no stranger to action at all, as she starred in such genre staples as Machete (2010), Mechanic: Resurrection (2016) and L.A.'s Finest show (2019 - 2020). Thus, the actress knows how to add wholesomeness to an action roller coaster of a movie.

Titled Trigger Warning, this action thriller also stars Anthony Michael Hall (The Dead Zone), Mark Webber (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World ) and Jake Weary (It Follows).

Don’t miss this female-led version of our favorite John Wick, as Trigger Warning is scheduled to be aired on Netflix already on June 21.
