The fan-favorite NCIS agent will finally get justice.

CBS’ police procedural giant NCIS keeps expanding its universe with more spinoff shows coming soon, and one of them may finally give the fans what they’ve wanted all these years.

The franchise’s upcoming 10-episode series titled NCIS: Tony & Ziva is set to take a closer look at what life is like for the original show’s characters Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David after they both left NCIS several seasons ago.

With no one else to put its focus on, chances are that the new series will dive deep into Ziva David’s background story, something the flagship show was never able to do.

Initially introduced in NCIS season 3, Ziva David, portrayed by Cote de Pablo, was like a breath of fresh air for the show that would now have a new compelling character to explore.

Ziva is quick enough to prove her loyalty to the team as she takes over the duties of Caitlin Todd who, ironically, was shot dead by Ziva’s half-brother Ari. She then tracks down her late colleague’s killer when he’s about to shoot yet another NCIS agent, this time the team leader Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

Throughout the seasons that she appears in, Ziva is shown as an unconditional expert who, despite quite a young age, has already had a long path coming from being a Mossad officer to becoming a NCIS Special Agent, though her professional merits often shade her personal drama.

The original show made it all clear about Ziva’s romance with other NCIS agent Tony DiNozzo, yet the series left everything half through regarding Ziva’s complicated relationship with her father and overall tension within her whole family.

Now that a whole new show centered on the character’s figure is making its way to the screens, it seems like the franchise has finally owned up to its big mistake. Ziva’s actress Cote de Pablo was vocal about her character’s departure after season 11, admitting that there was no compelling storyline for her to go further with.

Whether or not it has anything to do with de Pablo’s backlash towards NCIS, the franchise has surely decided to right this wrong.
