Donald and Stephen Glover are now in charge of the new Star Wars TV series.

After Donald Glover portrayed the younger version of legendary space entrepreneur Lando Calrissian in 2018's Solo: A Star Wars Story, many fans wondered if they would ever see the actor's take on the character again.

Although the development of a project featuring Lando was officially announced in 2020, with Justin Simien attached as showrunner, no further details were revealed, and for a long time it remained unknown whether either Glover or Billy Dee Williams (who played him in the original trilogy) were involved.

The situation has changed, however, as a new update on the show has recently surfaced, and it may promise a bright future for the Lando project.

According to Above the Line, Justin Simien has left the production of the show and Donald Glover along with his brother Stephen will now be working on the series together.

Fans see this development as a huge win for the project, as the Glover brothers were also responsible for the TV series Atlanta, which was exceptionally well received throughout its four-season run.

They say that if Disney gives the Glover brothers enough creative freedom, they will almost certainly deliver some worthy material, especially compared to the recent 'brain-dead' The Mandalorian Season 3. The formulaic approach can't work forever, so fans hope the Lando TV series will be as fresh and compelling as Andor, although it will most likely be much more lighthearted.

Considering all that, people are hugely pleased with the new update and are all the more excited for the upcoming show.

As for Justin Simien's departure, it was probably for the best, as the filmmaker's latest project, Haunted Mansion, which just came out on July 28, didn't live up to expectations, with reviews calling it rather bland and dull.

Unfortunately, we won't be seeing Lando's adventures anytime soon, as the show is still in the early stages of development and no release date has been announced. On top of that, the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes make it even less clear when we may expect the show to be released.

Did you enjoy Donald Glover's take on Lando and want more of him?
