According to fans, it would be a lot better for the character if she was actually hated.

Bailey Nune was a recurring character on The Rookie until she got promoted to the main character in the second half of the fourth season.

However, her short reign as "it girl" has left fans largely unimpressed, to the point where many people on Reddit argued that the show was better off without Bailey in the spotlight.

But is it really about her facing so much hate?

Turns out, this is not exactly what's happening. In fact, many Rookie fans argue that Bailey is so "unremarkable" as a character that she doesn't even deserve such strong emotion.

"Given her proximity to the lead character and all of those incredible skills, it is simply astounding how absolutely BORING she is! I know some blame the actress – but seeing her role on 'The Resident' I know there is more to her than what we're seeing," Redditor txa1265 noted.

Who's to blame, then?

As is often the case, fans tend to put the blame on the writers, arguing that they don't pay enough attention to creating the chemistry between the characters and some compelling storylines that could help Bailey become more "remarkable."

After all, main characters simply cannot afford the privilege to be mediocre, as they are supposed to be the center of attention.

In case of Bailey, who miraculously juggles multiple jobs (almost on a Mary Sue level, to be honest), "unremarkable" is not the description her character can be okay with.

"She can do everything, has been and will be everywhere, anything somebody has done she has done better," Redditor Different_Ad4821 said, noting it was more bearable when Bailey was a side character.

The Rookie returns on ABC with a new episode on March 28.
