When you use an ironic TikTok audio to come out, you can only expect a wave of memes.
On Tuesday, Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp did several things. First of all, he came out as gay via an extremely unserious TikTok video and triggered a meme parade online. Secondly, he appeared to have confirmed a very important detail about his Stranger Things character.
In his coming out video, he lip-synked the audio "You know what it never was? That serious", writing "When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was 'we know'". The caption for the TikTok, however, was even more of a bombshell.
"I guess I'm more similar to Will than I thought," Schnapp wrote, basically confirming that Will Byers from Stranger Things is gay.

It's unclear whether Schnapp's revelations about his character were in any way coordinated with the Stranger Things showrunners. Fans have long theorized that Will might be gay and have a crush on Mike (Finn Wolfhard), but neither Schnapp nor the showrunners have explicitly confirmed these fan theories. Now that Noah has ruined the suspense, it seems that fans will be even more excited for season 5 to finally premiere.
The release date of Stranger Things 5 is yet to be confirmed. The season will become the final one for the show.
