Nostalgia Meets Action: 'Knight Rider' Is Revving Up for the Big Screen

Get ready for high-speed thrills, retro vibes, and epic stunts ahead.
I have to admit, I never imagined seeing Knight Rider, the 80s classic about Michael Knight and his talking supercar KITT, back on the big screen — but here we are.
The creators of Cobra Kai, Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald, are taking on this iconic series, bringing their knack for reviving beloved franchises into another high-octane adventure.
They’re writing, producing, and possibly directing, with David Leitch (The Fall Guy) also producing — which means big, stylish action. The original series, created in 1982, followed a cop turned vigilante with an AI-powered Pontiac Trans Am, and it became pure 80s TV gold. Sure, there were revivals before, but none truly hit the mark.
What makes this even more exciting is that these guys are on a roll with revivals — they’ve got a Ferris Bueller’s Day Off spin-off in the works and a new take on Harold & Kumar.
If they bring the same mix of nostalgia and modern energy to Knight Rider, we might finally get a reboot that feels both fresh and faithful to the original.
