Not a Potato or a Dinosaur: The Main Villain of 'Toy Story 5' Revealed — Found in Every Home

We’re so used to it, we don’t even notice how it steals our time.
It seems Pixar has serious plans once again. At the Annecy Festival, audiences were told for the first time what to expect from the fifth instalment of Toy Story. And although the premiere is still a year away, the details revealed by the creators immediately sparked intense discussion. One image. One line. And everyone understood: this time, everything will be very different.
The main antagonist of the film will be… a tablet. Not just any gadget, but a model with the telling name LilyPad. According to the plot, it ends up among Bonnie’s new toys and quickly becomes the 'voice of reason' in her room. But the problem is that LilyPad decides it knows best what the girl needs — and that the other toys are outdated, useless, and standing in the way of the child’s development.
The creators emphasise: the villain won’t be evil in the traditional sense. It’s not a tyrant, but more of a digital guardian who wants to control everything. It will be convinced that its algorithms are the path to happiness. Which means — if Woody and Buzz need to be isolated, it will do just that. For their own good, of course.
Interestingly, the voice of LilyPad is still being kept secret. But given the importance of the character, we can expect casting no less star-studded than Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, who will return to voice their roles once again. The premiere is scheduled for June 19, 2026. And it seems we already have a reason to look forward to it.
