He deserved his own story.

Summary:

  • House, M.D. is a legendary series that was released in 2004 and lasted till 2012.
  • Fans of the show believe that Dr. Robert Chase deserved his own spinoff.
  • There are many ways the sequel could have worked.

One of the most popular medical shows out there was and maybe still is Fox’ House, M.D. It premiered in 2004 and lasted till 2012 with eight extremely successful seasons. At the center of the story was Dr. Gregory House, brilliantly portrayed by Hugh Laurie.

He was an easily annoyed cynical doctor who was addicted to Vicodin because of the past trauma in his leg. He also was the head of the Department of Diagnostic Medicine at the Princeton–Plainsboro Teaching Hospital in New Jersey.

Every episode the viewers saw him handling the most difficult and unexpected cases finding out the solutions that nobody would even think of.

But he was not the only one who made the show so perfect, the supporting cast of the show was also amazing. The fans especially admired Dr. Robert Chase, played by Jesse Spencer, who is shining today in Chicago Fire. Chase was the surgeon and intensive care specialist on House's diagnostic team.

The character is one of the few who was in the show from the very beginning till the series finale. He stole the show in every episode and in every scene he appeared on screen. But the way the show developed his character was probably fans’ favorite part.

He has one of the most complicated stories in the whole show and the writers did him amazing, showing his growth both personally and professionally. At the series finale we saw him go as far as replacing House as the head of the department.

Unfortunately, we know nothing about his future, and fans are still annoyed with Fox because of that.

The audience is sure that a Chase spinoff is something that needed to happen, as it would have been the perfect way to make it last. With Chase as the main character, it would have been no less interesting to watch.

With his professional skills, he would perform the surgeries successfully, but his personal life could have been even more compelling than that of the original titular character.

“Here are some reasons I think Chase could be a good main character for a spinoff. He's damaged. He murdered a patient under his care, which makes him infinitely interesting. He worked under House the longest and adopted some of his mannerisms, but not most of them like Foreman, giving his character room to grow,” one redditor said.

If you feel like giving House, M.D. another try, the show is streaming on Netflix. But if you’re missing Jesse Spencer specifically, tune in to NBC’s Chicago Fire.
