Anticipation is high for the fifth season of Virgin River, which has now officially wrapped filming.

After all, this romantic drama is well-known for dropping bombshells at every turn. But while the viewers are eagerly waiting to see what's in store for them, they have many burning questions surrounding the off-screen relationship between the show's leading stars, Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson.

Now, it's no secret that actors spend so much time together while filming, it's not uncommon for them to form closer relationships off-camera. And that's exactly the case with the pair – as it turns out, they're besties in real life.

Breckenridge and Henderson have been praised for their portrayal of Virgin River 's sweethearts, Mel Monroe and Jack Sheridan. And there's no doubt that their on-screen chemistry is a big part of what made the series a global smash and keeps bringing fans back to watch their story unfold each and every season.

However, fans of the pair will be pleased to find out that the two actors are not only a great match on the show but also when the cameras stop rolling. That said, as much as fans would love for the duo to build a real-life romance, they're not close as love interests but good friends instead.

Much to the fans' delight, the two stars bring plenty of entertainment to their viewers through their Instagram accounts between seasons, which gives a glimpse inside their friendship. They often share behind-the-scenes photos, go live on Instagram together and post funny videos in which we can see them joking around between takes.

Alexandra herself revealed to Parade that they know each other very well and that she always misses Henderson as he tends to spend a lot of time in New Zealand. She went on to explain, "We spend so much time together for four months out of the year, between the seasons I'm like, 'Where did my friend go?'"

Martin, on the other hand, has stated that when they first met, it was obvious they had a very similar sense of humor and sensibility.

"When we're working together, there's just a mutual respect and we give each other the room to, whether it's emotional stuff in the scene or just sort of playing with the scene in a way, there's a lot of trust there which ends up on the screen."

Given the show is all about love, it's understandable why viewers are invested in the couple's relationship off-screen. But while they may not be together in real life, getting along and being friends off-camera helps bring the attraction to life on the show, no doubt. And hey – a solid friendship is always a good thing in our books.
