This one might be Grey's biggest mystery to date.

For shows that are on the air for as long as Grey's Anatomy, it's always okay to be a little inconsistent. Of course, in a perfect world, everything the writers come up with would be so good that it would hold up 20 years from now, but in reality where shows have to fight to stay on the air for another year, that is almost impossible.

However, there are some things that viewers can't let slide, even if they think some inconsistencies don't matter that much. When a show tortures almost every single pregnant character, making them go through horrible diseases, scares of all kinds, and miscarriages, fans just don't want every character to get the same treatment — especially when it comes to geriatric pregnancy, which always has many more complications.

Teddy Altman was one of the characters whose background was a bit blurred when she joined the show. Although viewers would guess that she was in her mid-thirties when she first appeared in the story, a specific number was never revealed. Instead, fans went with their gut and assumed the average.

But when it came to Teddy getting pregnant with her baby, Alison, in 2019, people got a little confused. While it's not that uncommon for older women to carry their babies to term and give birth to healthy children, it's rare enough in the Grey's Anatomy universe even for younger women.

After so many horrific pregnancy storylines, it was almost insulting to the other characters to see Teddy go through a full term without at least a few scares. Even if fans were to believe that Teddy was 30 when she first appeared on the show, she would still be 48 by the time she got pregnant.

Of course, on a show like Grey's Anatomy, which is known for killing off its characters, viewers have to be grateful for any happy ending they can get, but it's always much better when it makes sense.

If you want to see what the future holds for Teddy Altman after her heartbreaking collapse in the last season's finale, be sure to tune in to Grey's Anatomy Season 20. Keep an eye out for more updates to make sure you don't miss the release date!
