One throwaway VisionQuest line just undid the saddest ending in Spider-Man history
No Way Home wiped Peter Parker from the memory of every person on Earth. This week, Marvel pointed a camera at the witness who isn't a person.
The line lands in VisionQuest's fifth and sixth episodes, "Firewall" and "Deadlock," which hit Disney+ on October 27. While Vision and E.D.I.T.H. hunt for the missing Tommy, Vision admits he's struggling to parent a teenager. E.D.I.T.H., wearing a human avatar played by Emily Hampshire, answers without missing a beat:
"Tell me about it: my first boss was a junior in high school."
— E.D.I.T.H., in VisionQuest
Her first boss was Peter Parker. Tony Stark built the A.I., and Far From Home ends with Peter inheriting the glasses — a kid commanding a satellite weapons network between chemistry classes. And in case anyone missed it, a few bars of the MCU's Spider-Man theme play under the line.
The problem — the wonderful problem — is that E.D.I.T.H. shouldn't remember any of it. No Way Home ended in December 2021 with Doctor Strange erasing Peter Parker from the memory of everyone on the planet, MJ and Ned included, and five years of Marvel movies have treated that erasure as total. The r/marvelstudios discussion thread got to the point in four words:
"Wait, EDITH remembers PETER?!"
— a commenter in r/marvelstudios' episode thread
The loophole, not the plot hole
Strange's spell rewrote memories, and memories live in minds. E.D.I.T.H. doesn't have a mind; she has a database — and in five years, not one MCU movie or show has claimed the spell touched artificial intelligence. If it didn't, then every server that ever logged Peter Parker's name has been quietly holding the receipts since 2021.

E.D.I.T.H.'s own history makes her the perfect vault. Her network was taken offline after Mysterio framed Peter for murder — she's spent years in storage, untouched by magic, knowing exactly who wore the glasses.
Strange's spell covered every person on Earth. E.D.I.T.H. is not a person, and VisionQuest just played the Spider-Man theme to make sure we noticed.
One more detail from the thread, because it shows the writers know their A.I.s are characters and not furniture. A commenter caught the shot composition when Tommy is being pulled in two directions: the devil on one shoulder, and over the other — Vision, F.R.I.D.A.Y., and E.D.I.T.H., three angels in a row.

Why the timing stings
Peter Parker spent 2026 as the biggest movie star on the planet and a man nobody remembers. Brand New Day became the first solo superhero film to cross $2 billion, and it built its story on exactly the loneliness that spell left behind.
So an A.I. who can testify that Peter Parker existed is not trivia — it's evidence, sitting in a deactivated pair of glasses, waiting for whichever Spider-Man movie decides to put it on the record. VisionQuest has two episodes left, on November 3 and 10, to say whether the line was a wink or a setup. Either way, for the first time since 2021, someone in this universe remembers who Peter Parker is.
