This time the story will bring the viewers to Irish landscapes.

Summary:

  • Netflix is bringing a pile of new exciting projects to its platform in May, with one of them being a dark comedy series.
  • Following Only Murders in the Building ’s suit, the new Netflix show will show a team of podcasters who set up their own investigation hoping to find three strangers that disappeared from an Irish coastal town.
  • The upcoming series is produced by Barack and Michelle Obama’s company Higher Ground.

Selena Gomez’s successful show about enthusiastic detectives exposing murderers in one of New York City’s high-rises seems to be a big source of inspiration for some new projects that are coming to streaming services soon.

One of them is Netflix’s big arrival, a dark comedy series called Bodkin, and now the plot is going to unfold in a completely different place.

Bodkin’s story will show a variegated team of podcasters who embark on an investigation after three strangers vanish in a seemingly serene and picturesque Irish coastal town.

The closer they will approach the truth, the more challenges they will face on the way to finding the missing strangers — right up to the distortion of reality and the chaos that will mix real events with fiction.

According to the creators, the viewers can also expect some sudden plot twists that will make them question their beliefs and fears, as well as the delusions that justify them.

Directed alternately by Nash Edgerton, Bronwen Hughes and Johnny Allan, the seven-episode show will star Will Forte, Siobhan Cullen, Robyn Cara, David Wilmot and Chris Walley, with Barack and Michelle Obama being one of the producers and representing their own production company Higher Ground.

The “wickedly wry thriller which questions truth, narrative, and the very purpose of each,” as the Higher Ground’s head of film and television Tonia Davis has recently called Bodkin, will land on Netflix in May, with the exact date yet to be defined.
