Outlander, based on the popular book series by Diana Gabaldon, has been capturing hearts since it premiered in 2014. The adventurous and romantic story of a nurse who somehow finds herself back in time, in 18th century Scotland. Now, stuck in the middle of Season 7, fans have been eagerly awaiting the second half to air.
The most frustrating thing for fans, however, is that no official release date has been given for when they can expect new episodes of the period drama. But some smart fans have done some analysis and made a very educated guess as to when the rest of Season 7 is likely to arrive.
Outlander Filming & Release Patterns
Fans have noticed that Outlander had a consistent filming and release schedule until the end of Season 5 in May 2020. Things took a turn during the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused delays in the filming of Season 6. Originally, Season 6 was scheduled to begin filming shortly after the conclusion of Season 5, but was eventually pushed back to February 2021. Filming delays inevitably led to release delays, meaning that Season 6 was not released to audiences until March 2022, and ended in May 2022.
Season 7 began filming on schedule right after Season 6 ended, which was Outlander's pattern before the pandemic. Eagle-eyed fans have noticed that this probably means that Season 8 will start filming in May 2024, which means that the second half of Season 7 will have to come before then.
Season 7 Part 1 So Far
The first half of Season 7 has been tense as we see the Frasers thrust into an impossible situation as the American Revolutionary War surrounds them. Danger lurks at every turn and there are some terrifying moments where the audience does not know who will live and who will die.
We also see two characters thrust forward in time and struggle to adjust to the massive culture shock. Battles, romance and brilliant twists have made Season 7 a brilliant one so far.
What To Expect in Season 7 Part 2
Understandably, the showrunners are taking great care to prevent spoilers from finding their way online. But the Writer's Guild of America has publicly revealed the titles of the rest of Season 7 in their directory:

- Episode 11 - "A Hundredweight of Stone"
- Episode 12 - "Carnal Knowledge"
- Episode 13 - "The Raven and the Dove"

- Episode 15 - "Written in My Own Hearts Blood"
- Episode 16 - "A Hundred Thousand Angels"
These are not much to go on, so it is still very much open to speculation as to what will happen in the rest of the season. But it is also known that Season 8 is coming, so fans have drawn the logical conclusion that we should not expect the story to end too abruptly, as there will be plenty more to come.
