Pierce Brosnan Answers the Most Burning Question in ‘Mamma Mia 3’: “I Know Who It Is”
The mysterious past of Meryl Streep’s character has always been something the Mamma Mia franchise put on top, but the movies’ fans aren’t really sure that’s the answer they need now.
The ABBA-themed jukebox musical romcom Mamma Mia is yet to unravel something big in the upcoming third movie, though it might be too late for the franchise to cause some major shock.
The first two films’ storyline mostly revolves around the mystery that surrounds the origins of Amanda Seyfried’s Sophie trying to discover who out of three of her mother’s suitors is actually her father.
Even though the third instalment’s plot line is still under wraps, Mamma Mia’s star Pierce Brosnan has just a major revelation coming up in the future chapters.
Pierce Brosnan Says He Knows Who Sophie’s Real Father Is
The actor, who in the movies portrays Sophie's possible father and an Irish-American architect Sam Carmichael, is currently in the competition with Colin Firth’s Harry Bright and Stellan Skarsgård’s Bill Anderson for the official status of Sophie’s biological father.
While it’s not yet clear when exactly Mamma Mia 3 will be released, some might be eager to know whether the leading cast has already read the scripts and found out the truth about the matter.
As it turned out, Brosnan in fact had such knowledge which he so far decided not to share much about.
“I think you’ll have to wait for the next movie. I think leave that one right there. I know who it is, but I don’t want to be a killjoy”, the actor revealed in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
‘Mamma Mia’ Fans Aren’t Sure They Want to Know About Sophie’s Real Father
Since the first two movies also delved into Sophie’s interactions with all the three potential fathers, proving that she managed to establish equally good relationships with either of them, for some fans the whole mystery doesn’t feel like something that is necessary anymore.
“I feel like it’s Bill but I also like it being open ended. I kinda wish they wouldn’t confirm it at all”, Redditor Carolina_Blues commented in a thread.
“Does anyone even actually want to know? Personally I think it’s better if it’s never acknowledged and she just has three equal dads”, citrustaxonymy agreed.
“Bill is the bio dad, Sam is the step dad, and Harry is the father. All 3 are equally Sophie's dad and have a good relationship with her! like they said in the films they’re all 1/3 her dad”, mzpibs wrote.
