Pierce Brosnan Isn't a Fan of This Daniel Craig James Bond Movie: "Kind of Weak"
And his criticism is quite fair.
The debate over the best James Bond movie is eternal. Fans pine for Sean Connery's elegant chaos, modern viewers appreciate the psychological depth of Daniel Craig's films, and some hold Pierce Brosnan's insanely captivating flicks in a special place.
However, Brosnan himself has proven to be a harsh critic of his successors.
Pierce Brosnan Says 'Spectre' Starring Daniel Craig Was "Weak" and "Too Long"
Brosnan was particularly critical of Spectre, part of Craig's series, calling it weak and drawn-out. In an interview with HitFix, the actor who played Bond in four movies admitted that he was looking forward to Spectre:
“I was looking forward to [Spectre] enormously. I thought it was too long. The story was kind of weak – it could have been condensed. It kind of went on too long. It really did.”
What Is 'Spectre' About?

After receiving a posthumous message from former M, James Bond embarks on an unofficial mission to track down a mysterious figure from his past.
His investigation leads him to the global criminal organization, Spectre. Meanwhile, the new M wages a political battle in London to save the secret intelligence service, MI6, from dissolution.
Ultimately, all of this culminates in a personal confrontation between Bond and the enigmatic leader of Spectre, Ernst Stavro Blofeld.
'Spectre' Indeed Wasn't the Most Brilliant Movie About James Bond

Brosnan's criticism is spot-on and reflects the general disappointment of many viewers and critics. After the groundbreaking Casino Royale and the nearly perfect Skyfall, which set a high standard for the spy thriller genre, Spectre felt like a step backward.
While the movie was certainly spectacular, its plot structure proved shaky.
Attempting to tie all of Craig's previous movies into a single story of personal revenge felt forced. And despite Christoph Waltz's brilliant performance, the motivation and scope of Blofeld's storyline were blurred.
Furthermore, Spectre became a victim of its own ambition: in striving to surpass Skyfall, it lost its focus and psychological depth.
