The franchise has seemingly removed the only reason to keep watching it.

Summary:

  • Pirates of The Caribbean ’s franchise comes back — but in a form of reboot and without Johnny Depp that many fans had hoped to see once again as Captain Jack Sparrow.
  • Though a couple of years ago the studio seemed to have absolutely different plans as the creators did want to make another sequel with the famous actor in the leading role.
  • Now, given that Pirates of The Caribbean’s franchise has lost almost all of its popularity, there's a very low chance that the reboot will retrieve it.

There’s been not that good news for the fans of Pirates of The Caribbean — after years of waiting for yet another film starring Johnny Depp they’re not getting what they wanted all this time.

World of Reel’s Jordan Ruimy (aka one of the main Hollywood insiders) has posted an update that was previously given by producer Jerry Bruckheimer. According to the latter, the studio isn’t planning to bring Johnny Depp back to the screens with his iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow — quite the opposite, they want a new film to be Pirates of The Caribbean’s reboot.

As Bruckheimer revealed, it’s going to be much easier than making a sequel as the reboot doesn’t need specific actors’ return. Meaning Johnny Depp’s return.

Many things about the revival of Pirates of the Caribbean must have changed in recent times — only a bit more than a year ago the same Jerry Bruckheimer was saying completely different details about the upcoming movie.

As he told insiders in December 2022, the studio had indeed had plans for making a film with Johnny Depp in it and, moreover, inviting Margot Robbie to join the cast as the script had already been in the works at that time.

Ruimy highlights that Pirates of The Caribbean’s franchise has been dead for a while already, even after Dead Men Tell No Tales was released in 2017, so Depp’s potential come-back as famous Captain Jack Sparrow could give it one more chance to restore its reputation.

Now that Jack Sparrow isn’t returning and for many Johnny Depp’s performance was literally the only reason to watch all the films of the franchise, this chance is incredibly low.
