The main love story of the season should be in the spotlight, right? Well, in theory, yes, it should.

Bridgerton, one of Netflix 's most popular series, is back with a new season. The focus of this season is Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton – best friends whose relationship dynamics fans have been following since the first episodes. The creators decided to divide the season into two parts: four episodes have been released so far, the second part will premiere on June 13.

Despite the fact that the new episodes focus on the story of Penelope and Colin, Bridgerton does not forget about other characters. Another Bridgerton makes her debut this season: Francesca, the most reserved sister in the family.

Much time in the series is devoted to friendship: Eloise now walks hand in hand with Cressida Cowper – the same sly young woman who could easily join the cast of Mean Girls.

Polin is Overshadowed by Secondary Storylines

In previous seasons, the love story of the main characters was not the only storyline – it was diluted with secondary plots. However, viewers of the third season complain that now the story of Colin and Penelope is lost against the background of all the numerous stories.

And the fact that the writers spend too much time on one specific storyline irritates fans the most.

“The entire Mondrich storyline is so boring. [...] I'm not here for them, I'm here for Polin, and I feel like if we'd taken away even half of the time we spent on following the Mondrich family around we could've gotten more payoff of seeing Colin grovel for Penelope,” Reddit user CaptainTao wrote.

What's Up With The Mondriches in Season 3?

Will and Alice Mondrich appeared in the first season to reveal Simon's story. However, by the end of the first season, characters who were not in the books were given their own stories.

In the third season, the eldest son of Mondriches receives an unexpected inheritance in the form of a title and an estate. At the same time, such a gift puts the spouses on opposite sides – Alice wants to enter and be a part of high society, while Will does not want to give up his business.

The Mondrich Storyline Doesn't Seem Significant at This Point

It's really hard to argue with the fans – the whole Mondrich line is a total snoozefest. At the same time, one wonders about the writers' decision to devote time to this storyline this season, given the huge number of subplots – problems between Eloise and Pen, the development of Eloise and Cressida's friendship, the Featherington baby race, and others.

This would only make sense if, in the second half of Season 3, the Mondrich storyline somehow significantly affects Colin and Penelope or one of the other subplots, but that seems doubtful at this point.
