Prime's New #1 Show Is a Perfect TV Replacement of 'Fast & Furious'

A new coming-of-age drama starring Ryan Philippe became a new addition to Prime Video’s collection just a week ago, and fans have already labeled it as a great binge — here’s everything you need to know about Motorheads.
It might be the perfect timing for another good show to become a top choice of your watchlist after Max’s The Last of Us and Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale are over, and Prime Video has got you covered.
The streamer has recently added a new hit drama series to its vast collection of TV shows, and it took just one week for it to rise to top positions in Prime Video’s global charts, according to FlixPatrol.
Starring Cruel Intentions’ actor Ryan Philippe, the show might also become a new favorite for those who miss Fast & Furious’ vibes ahead of a possible upcoming release of the franchise’s next instalment.
‘Motorheads’ Is Dominating Prime Video Right Now
Released on the streamer’s platform on May 20, Motorheads is a brand new drama series that gives some kind of teen-themed version of the Fast & Furious franchise.
Ryan Philippe stars as a former NASCAR driver and an auto body shop owner in Ironwood; the rest of the cast mostly comprises young actors who on the screen form an unlikely friendship after bonding over their mutual love for street racing.
However, the teens have yet to learn more about the streets’ cruel hierarchy while also trying to navigate through turbulent times at high school.
What Critics and Viewers Say About ‘Motorheads’
- On Rotten Tomatoes, Motorheads holds scores of 71% and 93% from critics and audiences
- On IMDb, the series is rated 7.4/10
Prime Video’s new and potentially long-standing hit series has so far performed well with both critics and viewers, with some calling Motorheads a great TV show that will keep you hooked until the very last episode.
“Great binge watch as I’ve gotten through all 10 episodes. I’ll admit I initially watched it for Ryan Phillippe as I was a fan back in the day. However, I was pleasantly surprised by all the new and upcoming younger actors who carried the show brilliantly. Some of the dialogue was a bit elementary and cliche, but I was able to overlook it. Familiar tropes and arcs, but with a racing twist. Drama, racing, speed, love stories for the younger and older generation…. It had it all”, Redditor Critical-Wolverine29 said in a series-related thread.
“As a serious car enthusiast this is simultaneously one of the funniest and most comforting TV shows I’ve ever seen. The first episode’s soundtrack slaps, so that’s a solid plus. I think the show does well to document how car culture has changed, both intentionally and unintentionally”, makalaosiggins added.
“I finished the last few episodes today, it’s like Friday Night Lights meets Fast and the Furious, but with a lower budget. I don’t know much about cars, but it was an enjoyable series. Some episodes were a little meh, but I enjoyed most of the characters. Overall worth the watch, kept me wanting to watch the next episode, and was entertaining. Ryan Phillippe was the only reason I watched the first episode to begin with, but enjoyed it overall”, xUSNDevilDoc agreed.
Motorheads’ entire season 1 is currently available on Prime Video.
