The fact that the series has already been renewed for a fifth season speaks volumes.

The first episodes of the fourth season of Reacher recently premiered, and all signs indicate that the show is not only maintaining its momentum, but also cementing its position as one of the best modern action series on TV.

The creators have once again captured the magic that made Reacher a phenomenon: the perfect balance of gripping action, detective intrigue, and the charisma of its lead, played by Alan Ritchson.

This time, Jack Reacher is in Philadelphia, where he had only planned to sample the famous cheesesteak. However, fate had other plans: he becomes a witness to the suicide of a woman who worked at the Pentagon.

He begins his own investigation and discovers that her death is just the tip of the iceberg in a massive political scandal involving high-ranking CIA officials, corrupt senators, and even a presidential candidate.

At the center of this chaos is a flash drive containing incriminating evidence that, according to rumors, the suicide victim gave to Reacher before her death. Jack has no idea about the flash drive, but that doesn't stop those hunting for it.

'Reacher' Season 4 Is Still All About Adrenaline-Fueled Action & Magnetic Alan Ritchson

The main reason viewers still love Reacher and critics give the show high scores is the impeccably staged action sequences and the lead actor's incredible charisma.

By the fourth season, Alan Ritchson, whose size and build perfectly match the character in the books, has fully embraced the image of the legendary wanderer โ€“ he's not just an actor playing Reacher, he is Reacher.

Ritchson's physical fitness enables him to perform complex stunts without the help of stunt doubles, and his ability to combine brutal strength with an almost comical composure makes every fight scene a spectacle.

Unlike many modern action projects, where the characters are literally invulnerable, Ritchson's Reacher remains human: he gets tired and injured but always finds the strength to keep going.

Nick Santora's script cleverly exploits this character trait: Reacher uses tactical thinking, analyzes his opponents' behavior, and finds their weaknesses.

Season 4 Lacks a Charismatic Villain, but That's Not Enough to Ruin the Season

The only slightly disappointing aspect of the new season is the lack of truly charismatic villains who can provide Reacher with worthy competition.

The antagonists, such as corrupt CIA agents and shady politicians, pale in comparison to previous seasons' excellent foes, such as Shane Langston and Mayor Grover Teale.

However, this shortcoming doesn't spoil the overall impression. Reacher remains a benchmark for the genre โ€“ a sincere, intelligent, and incredibly engaging action show that strengthens its reputation with each new season.
