Not everyone deserves a selfie.

Summary:

  • Reacher is a Prime Video crime action drama based on Lee Child's Jack Reacher stories.
  • Jack Reacher is portrayed by Alan Ritchson, who sees many similarities between himself and his character.
  • In the latest interview with The Wall Street Journal, the actor talks about his past and present relationships with his high school bullies.

There is a similar struggle that pretty much every creative kid has in common with every other kid: bullying. High school kids aren't particularly nice to anyone who doesn't fit the mold, so those who want to express themselves are usually going to be the victims of the more physically strong and ruthless kids.

Unfortunately, this is the past that many current celebrities admit to having. Even the most popular, strong, and slightly intimidating actors who seem to be bulletproof now could've had a lot of trouble growing up.

Reacher's Alan Ritchson, for example, knows the struggles of being mercilessly teased in high school firsthand, and he’s not ashamed to share his story. Especially since his story is a rare one with a relatively happy ending.

Not many people would risk messing with the actor now, but back then, kids tended to be cruel to anyone who didn't fit their description of strength and masculinity. Being a late bloomer with a passion for acting and singing made Ritchson the most attractive target for troubled kids.

But he doesn't hold any grudges. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, the actor shared the story of his reconnection with one of his old bullies:

“Before we left Florida, I ran into one of the guys who teased me in high school. He wanted a selfie. I was happy to oblige, but it felt strange. He forgot what he did, but I didn’t,” he admitted.

Fortunately, now that the actor is 41 years old, living outside his home state, happily married, and the father of two young sons of his own, the high school bullies are the last of his problems. However, the grace he offered them in return for past mistreatment shines only as a sentiment of his character.

If you want to see Ritchson in action, you can stream Reacher on Prime Video. The show is in the middle of airing its second season, which is going to finish on January 19, 2024. However, the show has already been renewed for season 3, so be sure to keep an eye out to not miss any news and behind-the-scenes updates.
