As Stranger Things heads into its fifth and final season, fans can't help but theorize about how far the show can go, and it looks like they're on to something.

With all the Dungeons & Dragons parallels in the show, fans believe that the final season will most likely introduce... an actual dragon. According to Redditor Killfile, neither the Demogorgon, nor the Mind Flayer, nor even Vecna were the series' biggest villains.

The theory suggests that season 5 will feature Tiamat — a multi-headed dragon from Dungeons & Dragons called the "Goddess of Evil" — as the main villain. According to the Redditor, Will's painting is spot on.

"That the final destruction of Tiamat will specifically involve Will, Mike, Dustin, and Lucas, with El, Hooper, etc. relegated to strictly supporting roles," the fan continued.

After all, for a show that references Dungeons & Dragons so often, it's only natural that Stranger Things would finally introduce an actual dragon, especially after teasing a winged beast in season 4. According to fan theory, the battle with the dragon will be a tough one, especially for Will.

"His placement in the painting as a wizard is part of this but it's also thematically the only resolution to the Will -> Mike El love triangle that makes any sense. We will see Will die, likely in an act of sacrifice to give Mike the opportunity to both be the hero and be with El," the Redditor explained.

The plot details of Stranger Things 5 are being kept under wraps, and Netflix has yet to announce the premiere date. However, fans are already preparing for the emotional rollercoaster that the final season is likely to be.
