One day, even Doctor Who will come to an end — and God forbid it would go for anything like this.

First of all, no, there is no Doctor Who series finale in sight. On the contrary, the show is as lively as it could be after more than half a century on air, with icons like David Tennant returning in an anniversary special and fans still eager to jump into Tardis alongside the Time Lord.

Still, the fandom can't help but think about the possible ending for the Doctor Who series. Particularly, they for some reason try to picture the worst possible scenario and come up with the most horrific ending for the beloved show.

It turns out that the thing Doctor Who fandom fears the most is the series going cliché. They even came up with the most overused one they would really hate to see in Doctor Who — yes, the notorious "it was all a dream" scenario.

Doctor Who Season 14 Gets a Dose of Nostalgia With Tribute to Its Past Time-Lords

Redditor DoughnutHopeful7408 suggested that it would be the First Doctor waking up from a "dream" slumped over the Tardis controls, and then Susan comes in only to hear that he had a dream about traveling around time and space.

"Susan says "Well that's a funny little dream, but it's time for you to see the doctor". Then the Doctor looks at the camera and goes "Doctor Where?" Then winks," the Redditor finalized, with fans in awe over how bad that would be for the show.

One fan said they would hate that with all their heart, with another noting they had "chills" over how horrible the cliché is. The "it was all a dream" ending is indeed overused and clichéd, and it would diminish the significance and impact of everything that has happened in the series up until that point.

It's a good thing that the show is still going strong and that we don't have to worry about any terrible endings like this one! At least Doctor Who showrunners now have the perfect idea of what not to do when they finally decide to call it quits. Or there is always another way — just let Doctor Who go on forever.
